Al Ain International Airport, Al Ain, United Arab Emirates
D.G. Jones & Partners were appointed to act as the Quantity
Surveyors providing post contract services by the Consulting
Engineers, Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick and Partners in September
1987.
The project comprised a 4 km Runway capable of handling
a Boeing 747 aircraft with a full parallel taxiway, Main
Terminal Building, Royal Pavilion together with many ancillary
buildings. The main passenger apron has four stands each
capable of serving B747 or B737 aircraft with fixed air
bridges and four remote stands to serve B737 or F27 aircraft
types. The Royal Pavilion accommodates one B747 and second
aircraft of smaller size (A300/DC10). The master plan included
a comprehensive system of electrical, water, sewerage, irrigation
and navigational aid services together with an extensive
road system both airside and landside connecting Al Ain
City.
The construction sequence was phased so as to award 9 separate
contracts for the complete project works. Contract 1 for
Earthworks was completed by June 1986 and Contract 3: Pavements
and Services was completed in December 1988. Contract 6
for Power Supply and Aircraft ground Lighting was awarded
in early 1989.

on Contract 3: Pavements and Services (value Dhs. 217 million)
up to and including Final Account. The Contractor was Hyundai
Engineering and Construction Co.
D.G. Jones & Partners were fully involved in the tender
and re-tender analysis of Contract 6: Power Supply and A.G.L
with the award of Contract to Brown Boveri/Rapco Building
Joint Venture. Full post contract quantity surveying services
