Dubai Aluminium Smelter Complex

D.G. Jones & Partners have provided a range of quantity surveying services to date on the Smelter Complex near Dubai. The project comprises an aluminium smelter with a production design capacity of 220,000 tonnes per annum, a dedicated power station and a port facility and the civil works are currently under construction.

In 1991, D.G. Jones & Partners participated in the preparation of the contract documentation for the design, manufacture and erection of the process and power elements of the project and in the negotiation of contracts with selected European contractors. Following the completion of the documents and the conclusion of the negotiations, contracts with five European contractors were signed.

D.G. Jones & Partners have prepared detailed construction budget estimates and cash flow forecasts for the overall project.

The firm was involved in the preparation of standard documentation forming the basis of contracts let between the Client and Iranian contractors for the civil and building works. This documentation included the Iran Government Standard Conditions of Contract and Form of Agreement, amended to suit the requirements of the project. Apart from the process and power station buildings, the complex included several buildings of the more traditional type such as the central amenities building, the field services building and the training centre.
