Tender Preparation
Skilled estimating staff are available
to assist Contractors' own estimating departments in the
preparation of tenders. Whilst the practice cannot prepare
estimates on behalf of Contractors its knowledge of local
conditions can be of great assistance to estimators.
Bills of Quantities
Contractors are often faced with the task
of estimating quantities of work involved in "drawings and
specification" contracts. The practice is experienced in
the rapid production of bills of quantities for tendering
purposes. Close liaison with the contractor's estimating
department ensures quantities are prepared in the manner
required by the estimator. Thus the Contractor's staff are
free to concentrate on the more critical aspects of the
tender.
Contract Documentation
Large and complex developments often require special contracts
to be written which take account of the contractual relations

Turnkey Projects
In turnkey projects Contractors will normally
be required to retain the services of design consultants.
The efficient performance of the design team is essential
to the successful completion of such projects. However,
Contractors are not generally experienced in design team
management and few designers are experienced in the development
of designs within critical cost limits, which may already
be set by contract. D.G. Jones & Partners combined skills
in cost control and project management can improve the performance
of the design team within the context of design and build
contracts.
Claims Prevention
For Contractors with large programs of
overseas work D.G. Jones & Partners can arrange seminars
for field personnel to provide guidelines and checklists
for contract administration which are designed to help site
staff avoid the more obvious claims events and help anticipate
